Built on XDC network
Bridges and Cross-Chain Interoperability on the XDC Network
Overview of Cross-Chain Bridges and Interoperability
As an EVM-compatible, Layer 1 blockchain, the XDC Network offers a solid foundation for any project to build on. Anything that can be built on Ethereum or other Layer 1 chains can also be built on XDC. But what if a project needs to build on two or more different chains? There could be various reasons for this, including the need for a private network for certain data as would be the case for many financial institutions protecting customer information, for example. The same could be true for healthcare organizations and any entity that needs a private (permissioned) blockchain solution to go along with the benefits of the immutability and transparency a public (permissionless) blockchain provides.
There will also be instances where a project desires to build on several blockchains as a way to maximize the benefits offered by multiple chains. A wider range of exposure, operational redundancy, and optimizing transaction settlements are some of the reasons a project might opt for a multi-chain solution.
XDC Network was built with cross-chain interoperability as a basic function. It is geared to work with various bridges to bring this functionality to any project.
Bridge to R3 Corda via Impel
R3’s Corda platform is built with financial institutions and regulated markets in mind. It offers private, secure, and scalable digital ledger technology (DLT) that fosters digital trust for participants in regulated markets. Through Impel, XDC provides a bridge to Corda.
Impel, the ISO 20022 messaging and settlement platform built on XDC Network, provides a bridge to the Corda network. It enables the $XDC coin to move to and from the Cordite CorDapp, where it can be used as a settlement vehicle inside the Corda ecosystem. The data can be recorded privately. It is simple to work with Impel’s bridge with an XDCPay or other affiliated wallet.
Wanchain
Wanchain seeks to drive blockchain adoption by building fully decentralized direct bridges that connect the world's many siloed blockchain networks. Wanchain is fully EVM compatible, making it easy for developers to build cross-chain Solidity-based applications. Anyone can deploy a Wanchain bridge node - they are permissionless (public), decentralized and non-custodial. XDC has been compatible with Wanchain since early 2022.
The Future of Blockchain Will Utilize Cross-Chain Bridges
The XDC Network was specifically built for enterprise applications, and the necessity for public and private network cross-functionality is inherent in its architecture. As blockchain continues to achieve adoption across institutional entities, including those that require a bridge to a private chain or other sub-network, cross-chain functionality will become a requirement for enterprise mass adoption. l
XDC Network will continue to be a safe and attractive network for institutions that adopt blockchain technology as a solution for their business needs. The ease in cross-chain functionality through bridges will continue to flourish and grow along with blockchain’s overall adoption. As adoption becomes more widespread, blockchain interoperability will also develop rapidly. The XDC Network is already a proven network and stands ready to scale with demand.
